Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What age groups do you serve?

A: Our preschool serves students ages 2 to 4. Our Kindergarten program serves students who are older 4 year olds and 5 year olds based on academic readiness.

Q: When does school start? And, when does school end?

A: For the 2012-2013 school year, the first day of school is Tuesday, August, 28, 2012 and the last day of school is Friday, June 7, 2013. See the Enrollment page for school hours and the school calendar. For weather related closings, the school follows Northwest Independent School District. If NWISD is closed, then the school is closed. If NWISD has a late start, then the school is closed for the entire day.

Q: What is the time line for tuition and fees payment?

A: We use FACTS tuition system for all tuition payments (including enrichment program fees). Payments are due on 5th of each month. The first payment is due on July 5, 2012 and the final payment is on April 5, 2013. Payments are non-refundable. Payments may be paid in 10 monthly installments or in full. Payments made in full by July 20, 2012 will receive a 5% discount on school tuition.

Q: What is included in the registration fee?

A: The registration fee covers the cost of supplies, enrollment in the FACTS tuition system, and enrollment in the online curriculum access. The registration fee is non-refundable.

Q: Do you offer financial aid? Or, do you offer any other discounts?

A: We offer a multi-child discount of 5%. Pay the full tuition on the highest tuition rate, then 5% discount on the 2nd, 3rd, etc. Multi-child discounts are cumulative but apply to school tuition only (excludes fees and extension program). Families may apply for financial aid at www.factstuitionaid.com.

Q: What is an “enrichment program?”

A: The enrichment program is a special program that will further develop gross and fine motor skills and academic skills. Activities may consist of gymnastics, dance, science, and art. Call the school office for more details.

Q:  Are uniforms required?

A:  Preschool students do not have a required uniform, but send students with closed-toe shoes and appropriate weather-related clothing. Kindergarten students are required to wear uniforms. See the Parent / Student Handbook for more details.

Q: Does the school provide snack or lunches?

A: The parent provides a daily snack and lunch. If the student is staying for enrichment or after school programs, send two snacks and a lunch. The Parent / Student Handbook notes nutritional lunches and snacks to send. The classroom teacher will make parents aware of any classroom allergies. Please make the school office aware of food allergies prior to the first day of school.

Q: Does my child have to participate in nap time?

A: Yes, Concordia Academy is licensed by the Department of Family and Protective Services. We are required to have the students rest / nap. To help your child rest, please send a special “lovey” or “cuddley” to school. For students who do not sleep, they will continue with the school curriculum after a designated rest time.
